Your 14-day trial

Last updated: 5 October 2026

These details apply to the current Mac and Windows downloads. See the download page for each version’s requirements. Older invited beta builds may behave differently.

When the clock starts

Your trial runs for 14 consecutive days from the first successful activation inside QualBuddy. Verifying your email or downloading the installer does not start it. The app shows the exact expiry in your local time. Time continues while the app is closed.

Transcription in the trial

Your trial includes 3 hours of transcription, counted by the length of each recording QualBuddy transcribes or separates into speakers. Everything else is open for the full 14 days. Account & trial shows how much is left, and so does the transcription panel.

Each recording counts once: transcribing it again, separating its speakers, or transcribing it in a copied project on the same computer uses nothing more. A transcription that fails or is cancelled gives its time back. Trials that began before this allowance was introduced keep unlimited transcription until they end.

No card. No automatic payment.

We do not collect payment details for this trial. It does not turn into a paid subscription and you will not be charged automatically. If you want to keep going, a one-off licence (£79 including VAT, for two Mac or Windows computers) can be bought from inside the app; see the licence terms.

Your account and devices

Use your email to sign in. You can activate up to two devices on the same account, sharing one trial period. Reinstalling, changing devices or signing in again does not restart those 14 days. You can release an old device from Account & trial settings.

Internet and offline work

Sign-in and activation require the internet. Once activated, signed access lets the app work offline until expiry. It refreshes access when it can connect. A substantial change to your computer’s clock may require an online refresh. An offline device that has been released can retain its previously issued access until that access expires.

When the trial ends

You keep access to existing projects, audio playback, export and backup. Creating projects, importing material, transcription and editing require active access. Jobs that were already running can finish. Trial expiry does not delete your research or charge you.

Trying the beta

Start with the fictional worked examples, keep independent backups and review your outputs. Read the beta testing guidance and account privacy details.
